Detailed Product Description

Aloe Vera leaf contains more than 2000 different constituents, each of them in relatively small quantities. The juice contains about 90% water. Most of the important constituents taken together make about 1% of total. It is this 1%, which is largely responsible for various affects of Aloe. In his book of Natural Health, Natural Medicine (Houghton Miffin, 1990) Andrew Weil suggests that fresh Aloe gel applied directly to the skin provides immediate relief for burns and general skin irritation or inflammation. He also cautions that commercial products, which boast of their Aloe, may not contain sufficient of Aloe to be effective. The gel is prepared by many methods, some of them by patented or proprietary processes. Most involve pressing, but some entail solvent extraction. According to Albert Leung, a natural product chemist, properties of commercial gel products produced by solvent extraction vary greatly and are not generally the same as Aloe gel squeezed for a fresh Aloe leaf. Aloe Vera products are available in liquid and solid form. The most popular liquids are concentrates of various strengths Spray dried Aloe Vera is the most popular solid product. Production of spray dried Aloe Vera needs highly specialized technology as it concentrates all the important constituents present in Aloe Vera gel. The powder is also easy to transport, manage and is largely used in pharmaceutical and cosmetical industry.
